Benissa Bulaya
Sports Performance Trainer & Coach
Coach Bulaya is a 2011 El Camino Fundamental High School Alumni, four year varsity player from Sacramento California, who played the point guard position. She played for the AAU girls basketball program Sacramento Sting from 6th grade through the 12th grade.
After high school she received a scholarship to play Women’s Basketball at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, an NCAA Division II. While there, she was a two-time captain, GNAC player of the week (2015), All-GNAC Honorable Mention (2015), Team MVP (2012 & 2015), GNAC All-Academic Team (2014 & 2015), and received the Joe Tremarello Student-Athlete Sportsmanship Award (2015).
Coach Bulaya graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2015, with her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and a minor in marketing.
In 2017 she took an internship with Murray Athletic Development, where her journey and love for strength, conditioning and sports performance training began. In 2018 she obtained her personal training certification from PTA-Global. In 2018-2020 she held a position as a physical education teacher, and sports performance coach at Valley Christian Schools in San Jose CA. She specializes in basketball movements, strength training, and speed/agility.
She is currently in her 6th year coaching basketball, having started her coaching career within a youth basketball organization on the peninsula. In 2016, Coach Bulaya was onboarded as the Girls JV Basketball Head Coach at Palo Alto High School, where she coached for two seasons. Since her high school coaching debut, Coach Bulaya has continued to coach AAU basketball and ran skill development clinics with an infusion of basketball specific sports performance.
